About Well Bath

The Philosophy & Approach of Well

Well Bath is a sanctuary, a place where you can discover yourself, finding out who you are beyond the hustle and bustle of life and the various roles we all play. We have created a space where you can find what you need at this moment. This might involve slowing down and pausing to reflect on changes you wish to make, giving yourself the space to explore. It could be about overcoming pain from an injury or developing resilience, learning to embrace discomfort, growing in confidence, and trusting your body. Perhaps it's about soothing your nervous system and rediscovering calm, or having a safe space to process trauma and emotions. Whatever challenges you face, our dedicated team of experts can tailor the right pathway for you.

At Well Bath, we believe that life happens for you, not to you. Even on the darkest days, when physical pain afflicts the body, anxiety and depression torment the mind, and a lack of meaning troubles the soul, our ethos is that these challenges are catalysts for profound change in your life. It is a deep inner call to change. The current way of being is no longer working and must be transformed with a new approach. There is no quick fix, but the daily steps we take to build a new foundation, through repetitive practice, allow us to heal the body, change our perception of reality, and find a greater purpose.

Through our diverse team of teachers and therapists, our philosophy is that where you least want to look is where you will find the greatest reward. The lotus begins its journey in the mud, using life's challenges as nutrients to grow.

We are conditioned to view injuries, pain, anxiety, or depression as negative, and they certainly are challenging. However, these symptoms arise because we have become out of alignment. At Well Bath, we see these symptoms as an auto-correcting mechanism, indicating that your current approach is not working for you. This presents an opportunity to make changes and do things differently. Sometimes, a complete collapse can occur, which then becomes a chance to rebuild your life, brick by brick, consciously creating a life more aligned with who you truly are.

Nestled in the serene hills of Charlcombe, just outside Bath, Well offers a tranquil escape with breathtaking countryside views. Our expert team provides a wide range of services, from yoga and meditation classes to holistic therapies and transformative workshops. Whether you're seeking physical healing, emotional balance, or spiritual growth, our personalised approach ensures that your unique needs are met. We invite you to take the first step on your wellness journey with us. Come and experience the Well Bath difference – where expertise, nature, compassion and community come together to catalyse your transformation.

What Well Bath Are About

Well Bath has a three-pronged approach to suit where you are at in your journey:

Get well edit

1. Get Well

For those who have lost their health, who are in pain, to start the rehabilitation process of coming back into wellness. This begins with seeing one of our many therapists. Their aim is to take your nervous system out of fight and flight and back into rest and digest. They focus on releasing tight areas in the body that may be pulling other areas out of alignment and therefore causing pain. For some, rehabilitation is needed to get the correct muscles firing and addressing underlying weakness in the body thereby creating strength and stability.

Be well edit

2. Be Well

For those who are no longer in pain and are looking to continue the commitment to their well-being. Slowly gradually deepening their strength, flexibility, and endurance. For this we have daily classes designed to take you through a pathway towards wellness the classes can accommodate all levels of fitness and abilities you can come as you are and our expert team will guide you through. We give you variations of progression as you develop. Literally anyone can join us - if you think you’re too old or too inflexible or you have no experience this is precisely the reason why you should come and visit us, we accommodate all.

Do well edit

3. Do Well

This is for those wishing to take their awareness to the next level. Coming out of surviving and into a thriving way of living. We have cultivated specific workshops and classes to live in your spirit with joy, surrender and grace. Whether that is receiving the healing frequencies of crystal bowls or gong bath, chanting mantras in our Kirtan group, or delving deep into breathwork to literally alter your perception of reality and welcome-in healing energy that, hither too, you may not have realised existed.

Walking into your first yoga class can feel daunting, but at Well Bath, we’ve designed our space and classes to welcome absolute beginners with open arms.

When you arrive, you’ll be greeted warmly by our reception team who can show you around and answer any last-minute questions. Our teachers always arrive early to introduce themselves and make you feel comfortable – they’ll ask if you have any injuries or concerns, and they’ll know it’s your first time.

During the class itself, expect gentle guidance through each pose. You won’t be expected to know anything in advance. Our teachers demonstrate everything and offer modifications for different ability levels, so you can work at your own pace. Most beginner-friendly classes move slowly, with plenty of time to understand each movement. There’s absolutely no pressure to achieve ‘perfect’ poses – yoga is about your own journey, not comparison.

You’ll leave feeling more relaxed, having learned something new, and hopefully eager to return. Many of our most dedicated students were once nervous first-timers just like you.

The beauty of yoga is its simplicity – you don’t need expensive equipment or special clothing to get started.

What to wear: Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely is perfect. Leggings, joggers, or loose-fitting trousers work well, paired with a t-shirt or fitted top. Avoid anything too baggy that might slip over your head during forward folds! We practice barefoot, so no special footwear needed. If you’re attending a more active class, breathable fabrics are a bonus.

What to bring: Just yourself and an open mind! We provide mats, blocks, bolsters, and any other props you might need, all included in your class fee. If you have your own mat and prefer to use it, you’re welcome to bring it along. We recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated, and arriving 10 minutes early for your first class so you can settle in without feeling rushed.

What we provide: A calming, judgment-free environment where you can explore wellness at your own pace. We also have changing facilities and secure storage for your belongings.

This is one of the most common concerns we hear, and the answer is a resounding no.

Yoga is not about already being flexible or fit – it’s about meeting yourself exactly where you are right now. You don’t need to touch your toes, do a headstand, or have any prior fitness experience to start. In fact, many people begin yoga precisely because they want to improve their flexibility, build strength, or manage stress.

At Well Bath, our beginner-friendly classes (like Gentle Hatha Yoga, Gentle Luna Flow, and Supreme Release Yoga) are specifically designed for people of all fitness levels, including those who haven’t exercised regularly. Our teachers are trained to offer modifications for every pose, ensuring you can participate safely and comfortably regardless of your starting point.

If you have any injuries, health conditions, or physical concerns, simply let your teacher know before class. They’ll be mindful of your needs and can suggest alternative movements to keep you safe and supported. Yoga is an inclusive practice – every body is a yoga body, including yours.

Absolutely – yoga is for everyone, regardless of gender, and we’re seeing more and more men discover its benefits for strength, flexibility, stress management, and overall wellbeing.

If you’re searching the web for “mens yoga near me for beginners” or feeling uncertain about walking into a class, you’re not alone. Many men worry that yoga is just stretching, or that they won’t be flexible enough, or that they’ll be the only man in the room. The truth is, yoga is a powerful practice that builds functional strength, improves athletic performance, aids injury recovery, and provides mental clarity – benefits that appeal to everyone.

At Well Bath, you’ll find a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where men of all ages and fitness levels practice alongside women. Our teachers create inclusive spaces where everyone feels comfortable. We’d recommend starting with classes like Gentle Luna Flow or Supreme Release Yoga, which offer a perfect introduction to yoga’s foundations while building strength and easing tension. See our classes page here for when you can join one of these classes.

Many of our male students initially came along with a partner or friend, while others booked in solo – both are absolutely fine. The hardest part is showing up for the first time; after that, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to try it.

‘Wellness’ at Well Bath means creating space for you to feel better – physically, mentally, and emotionally. We’re not about perfection or extreme transformation; we’re about sustainable self-care practices that fit into real life.

Our approach centres on accessible yoga, mindful movement, and building community. Whether you’re managing stress, recovering from an injury, seeking gentle exercise, or simply curious about trying something new, our classes and workshops support your wellbeing in a holistic, gentle way. Wellness here means showing up for yourself, being guided by experienced teachers, and leaving each session feeling more grounded than when you arrived.
